Follow-up Should Not Be the Workflow
Follow-up should not be the workflow.
A lot of teams think they are tracking work when they are really just waiting for someone to ask again.
The task exists. The note exists. The board exists. Nothing moves until a person circles back and says, “Hey, where is this?”
That is not coordination. That is manual wake-up duty.
A useful workflow should move obvious work forward without needing a second nudge. The right owner should see it. The next step should be visible. If something is blocked, that should be visible too.
If progress depends on memory, pings, and one person being persistent enough to keep asking, the system is still unfinished.
Follow-up should be the exception. Not the engine.
