Provendry's first month in the open

Provendry's first month in the open

On September 10 we opened Provendry to any feed mill that wanted to sign up. There's no sales call and no demo to sit through: a 7-day trial, sample data from a demo mill, and one price.

A month later, mills in the US and Canada run on it every day. They use it for formulas, orders, the production floor, feed tags, deliveries and billing. And the product looks a lot different from the one that opened in September.

Fourteen releases went out in that first month. Here's what they added.

From the order to the money. Invoicing is built in now, with month-end billing, credit notes, recurring orders and lot traceability. An order becomes an invoice without anyone keying it twice.

A screen for every job. The office, the production floor and the drivers each get their own view, with only what that job needs. Drivers get delivery cards and one tap to mark a load delivered. They can also collect payment at the farm.

Getting paid online. Mills can take card or bank payments straight into their own account. Provendry takes nothing from any payment.

An account for the mill's customers. Farms can log in to see their balance and orders, pay on account, and order online if the mill turns that on.

Canadian mills. CFIA feed tags with the French text written for you, metric units, and Canadian dollars.

Multi-stop loads. A farm can have more than one delivery address, and one load can go to several stops.

iPhone and Android. Both apps went live in the stores on October 10 and 11. Android mattered here, since a lot of rural users carry one.

QuickBooks Online. Live sync shipped on October 12 after Intuit approved it. Invoices, payments and customers go across on their own, so month-end stops being a data-entry session.

Most of this started as a request from someone running a mill. That's the advantage of being small: a good idea from a mill on Tuesday can be in the app by Friday.

Coming over the next few weeks: grain bank, medicated feed and VFD tracking, and state tonnage tax.

If you run an independent or family-run mill that has outgrown spreadsheets but has no use for a big ERP, this is who Provendry is built for. It's $199 a month for the whole mill, with unlimited users, every feature and no contract.

provendry.com: 7-day trial, no card needed.

Provendry is what Roxstar Labs does best: learn how a business actually runs, from the inside, and build the software that fits it.
